
The cathedral was built from 1803 to 1816 according to the drawings of Giacomo Quarenghi in 1790 under Alexander, under the guidance of the architect L. Carloni. A massive and at the same time low bell tower was erected already in 1858-1863, having arranged a warm church of Alexander Nevsky in the lower tier. Both structures were destroyed in 1943.
