The Kremenchuk pier was one of the most important piers on the Dnieper. Since the railway connecting Kharkiv with Odesa and Mykolaiv passed through Kremenchuk, the city has grown significantly and its commercial importance has increased every year, thanks to the convenience of water and land communications. Only after a noisy, crowded day on the pier, when dusk descended to the Kremenchuk shore, could one hear the cry of seagulls and the splashing of the Dnieper waves.
