There is a legend in Kremenchuk that on the island of Fantasia there was either a restaurant or a cafe with the same name “Fantasia” and there was a footbridge to the island. I have not been able to find any supporting documents or photos. The only thing we managed to find out is that in 1913 O.T. Bogaevskii’s project of setting up a park on the island, but it was criticized.
The following is described in the book “Emerald robes of Kremenchuk: the history of the city in parks and squares” (N.V. Muzychenko, I.M. Sokolova Emerald robes of Kremenchuk: the history of the city in parks and squares. Kremenchuk, 2016. p. 26.) …green objects of Kremenchuk were taken care of by a special garden commission under the city administration. In 1913, the garden committee was headed by O.T. Bogaevsky. He came up with a project to arrange a park on the island, close to the steamboat docks, with the aim of increasing the “hygienic recreation areas”. However, this “Manilov” project, which provided for a connection with the island due to electric traction, was completely criticized.”
Therefore, it turns out that the “Fantasia” cafe-restaurant on the island is just a fantasy, a project, an impossible dream…
Thanks for the help in searching for information to the Kremenchug Local History Museum.
