In the upland part of Kremenchug, block No. 188, next to the palace of culture of the combine plant (in 1952 – the Bridge Plant, now PJSC AvtoKrAZ), in the spring of 1957, a square of 2 hectares was planted. Its design and arrangement was carried out by the plant. At first it was a plantation of fruit trees, enclosed by a fence. After that, carousels were installed on its territory, where children could have fun. At the entrance there was a pavilion where they sold juices, water, ice cream. The factory workers immediately liked the square. After all, most of them lived in this part of Kremenchug, and spent their leisure time here.
The square has always been crowded. For the New Year, the Christmas tree was installed on a special movable platform and it spun around its axis, which the children really liked. In 1967, most of the already mature trees (birch, poplar), planted with love by the workers of the landscaping plant, were destroyed by SU-616 machine operators during work, causing damage of 5,600 rubles. In 1976, the architects of the Avtozavodsky district completed a new project for the improvement of the square. The Board of Honor was installed, new tree plantations appeared. Already during independent Ukraine, almost the entire square was built up, destroying most of the trees. In 2000, the buildings of the firm “Gardi” grew here. In return, as compensation, its owners planted a dozen exotic stem-shaped sakura along the sidewalk, which delight in the spring with their unusual pink flowers.
