1931 went down in the history of Ukraine with its catastrophic flood on the Dnieper.
All cities on the Ukrainian Dnieper, especially on the Left Bank, were flooded by spring unruly waters. Almost every spring, the population of the Dnieper cities awaited the flood of the river with the usual anxiety. Every year it was different. This was facilitated by snowy winters, sharp warming and rapid melting of ice on the river and its tributaries.
Something similar was predicted that year. But it so happened that among all the known floods, starting from the end of the 18th century, this one was the largest in history not only in terms of the level of water rise (8.23 m above the low water level), but also the most significant in terms of the area of the flooded zone.
