It was built in 1910 at the expense of the Poltava noblewoman Kotovych in the Gothic style. She bequeathed the church considerable funds, which were enough to repair the existing church in Poltava and build a new one in Kremenchuk. It functioned as a Roman Catholic basilica until 1919. After the establishment of Soviet power, religious services were prohibited. Until the 1970s, it housed a culture building, a celebration building, an officers’ building, a cinema, and children’s sports school No. 2.
Divine service was resumed on December 17, 1991 by the UAOC community. After the Unification Council in 1992, the church became part of the community of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the KP, and after the Unification Council in 2018, it belonged to the OCU. Construction finishing and repair works were carried out in the premises. Shrines: the icon of the hieromartyr Macarius with a piece of his relics, the icon of the great martyr Varvara with a piece of her relics.
