On November 6, 1968, a ceremonial rally and parade took place in Kremenchuk to unveil a monument to Komsomol members of the 1920s and 1930s, representing the Komsomol members of the 1960s, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (VLKSM). The monument is a bas-relief stele with an inscription on its side: “In memory of all who gave us a happy and joyful life, a calm and clear sky—to the Komsomol members of the 1920s and 1930s, grateful descendants, and to the Komsomol members of the 1960s.” The monument’s location—the “Cosmos” square, created on the site of the destroyed Holy Trinity Church—was intended to play a symbolic role. The new monument, with its message to future generations of Komsomol members, blended harmoniously with the artistic design of the square, which became a pleasant and beloved recreation spot for Kremenchuk residents.
