Modern Victory Square on a fragment of a German aerial photograph, Kremenchuk, September 30, 1943. The Germans labeled the destroyed Assumption Cathedral with the Kirche label, a little lower – the Post Square with a monument to “To the Fighters for the Power of the Soviets”. Also near the square are visible buildings that have survived to this day – a bank, a local history museum and a two-story building, where “Kofan” is located today, on the top left is the building of the former Kremenchuk district zemstvo (now residential building #2 on Kotsyubynskogo Street). The streets labeled by the Germans in the photo are Strasse O – Lenina Street (Soborna), Strasse P – Revenka Street, Strasse Q – Sverdlova Street (Pavlivska). On the lower right, near the Postal Square, you can see School No. 7 (the former County School), destroyed in 1941.
